It’s a holiday tradition, the most recent edition which aired this past week. But no, it’s not “A Charlie Brown Christmas” or anything like that. It’s the annual performance by Darlene Love of “Christmas (Please Come Home)” on David Letterman’s show.
This particular edition was important because Letterman has announced his retirement, meaning there won’t be any more holiday seasons. For 28 years, he invited Darlene Love out to sing her classic holiday hit, and she credits Letterman for helping her belatedly establish a solo career:
