I’ve previously shared my love of The Bird and the Bee, and while their next album is said to finally be coming next year, in the meantime, another project she’s involved with, The Living Sisters, has released a Christmas disc, “Harmony is Real: Songs for a Happy Holiday,” that continues in the tradition of lush harmonies that throw back to an earlier era.
“Kadoka, South Dakota” has that great rhythmic sound to it that goes beautifully with the slightly tropical vibe the track has. The quartet sound as lively here as they have elsewhere, a good thing, as it’s very infectious and jubliant.

Another original from their holiday album is “Skip the Sugar (Good Girl)” which has an enjoyable laid back reggae vibe married to their harmonies. The video’s a bit of fun, maintaining a bit of tongue-in-cheek fun that carries over from the song.
While not a holiday track I’d be remiss if I didn’t share a bit more of The Living Sisters. Here’s a beautiful track called “How Are You Doing?” The music video’s pretty insane and awesome.
