Long before there was the University of Phoenix, there was International Correspondence School, or ICS. Those who watched enough TV in the early 90s could probably from memory recite the list about “High School, TV/VCR Repair, Computer Programming,” and so on… “or get your degree! You can major in Business Management or Accounting.”
Clearly people have too much time on their hands so these clips are uploaded en masse, but it certainly struck a chord. Sally Struthers, and later Jackie Zeman, excitedly asked if you want to make more money. “Sure, we all do!” It clearly was popular enough to warrant the years of commercials to appear, and millions of people ultimately signed up. The school as evolved into Penn Foster, an online college, career and high school education program.
I’d LOVE a degree in VCR repair!
