I recently wrote about a viral Funny or Die video featuring Kristen Bell that had a message. It’s not the first time iconic characters were used to provide laughs and push a message concurrently. The most prominent is likely the “Presidential Reunion” from a few years ago, which featured nearly all the SNL actors playing their presidential impersonations for which they were famous.
With the exception, played beautifully by the late Phil Hartman but replaced by sketch comedy alum Jim Carrey, it brings together nearly 40 years of presidential impersonations, including some of their classic styles and bits while watching them attempt to advise Barack Obama. It’s still amusing today, even if Fred Armisen is no longer the Barack Obama impersonator of choice.
