Yesterday, we looked back at old New York. Today, we look at something quite new. Time magazine has an in-depth article about 1 World Trade Center, also known as the Freedom Tower, and some amazing pictures taken from atop it.

Some fascinating stories are told within the article, such as the work that had to be done underground to build the tower to be as safe as possible. Other parts, such as what they found when they were digging 200 feet down, were both sad and fascinating at times. But the herculean effort to build a futuristic building that also honored the past has an amazing story of its own, and it’s worth a read.
