Regular readers of the blog know I’m a big fan of New Haven-based sibling duo Mission Zero, and have been following their path for a couple of years now. Last fall, they announced they were taking a break from performances to work on some new music, and as winter has finally decided to more or less pack it in, comes word that a new EP is coming out in May. Mission Zero’s latest: ‘Sky Candy’ EP

I’ve had it for awhile, but unfortunately due to the schedule I’ve been keeping as of late, didn’t get around to working on this for awhile, but yay to a quiet weekend, as I can finally share with you some newer music by one of my favorite local acts, Mission Zero! Continue reading

Mission Zero tackles Lorde’s ‘Royals’

Mission Zero is back, this time with a cover of Lorde’s “Royals,” which takes a Joe Cocker piano riff and melds it on the recent hit to great effect.  The music video maintains the fun of their other recent videos.  This time, the song is available through Bandcamp, and you can either download it for free or make a donation for the purchase, allowing you to support the band if you choose. Celebrating 100 posts with Mission Zero!

When I started this blog, I aimed high: Daily posting, building off of a project I had completed at the Connecticut Post. That didn’t really work out, but nonetheless today marks my 100th post, and I’ve managed to get into more of a rhythm this summer, so I’m still pretty happy with how far it’s come. Continue reading

Required listening: Chrissy Gardner’s “Little Lady”

The first time I saw Mission Zero, member David Keith was touring with Blackmore’s Night, so joining Chenot Keith on stage was her friend Chrissy Gardner. I’ve certainly kept up with Mission Zero since (they have a new song coming out in mere hours as this post goes up), but I haven’t talked much about Gardner. Continue reading

Required listening: Mission Zero’s “When the Morning Comes”

I previously wrote about Mission Zero, a brother-sister duo who I’ve seen a couple of times live by now. They recently released a new song, which, after a naming contest, has been dubbed “When the Morning Comes.”  This could be their finest effort yet. Continue reading
