Christmas Present: ‘A Very Postmodern Christmas’

Here’s another incredibly fresh release for the Christmas Present pile this year, from a group I’ve been digging heavily throughout this year: Postmodern Jukebox.

Scott Bradlee’s quality control as he releases what’s amounted to 1-2 songs a week has remained incredibly high, so my excitement for the Christmas album, led by the dueling basses and Kate Davis, as seen above, highlights the perfect blending of past and present. The music is of the now, highlighting musicianship as always, but plays with different generations just as they always have.

Elsewhere, Robyn Adele Anderson and Dave Koz team up with Bradlee to blend “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” and “Angels We Have Heard on High.” Anderson, of course, has been behind some of the biggest songs, and she continues to kill it here.

The album’s now on Spotify – there’s plenty to get into here, with many of their amazing singers featured – Miche Braden, Christina Gatti and Von Smith are among the other featured artists. Check it out!
