I’ve praised Postmodern Jukebox here in the past, so for this edition of YouTube has Everything, this isn’t as much a throwback as it is new releases of popular songs re-envisioned in a throwback style. Two recent releases are collaborations with other singers that have partnered with them in the past, and yield excellent results.
Miche Braden is an insanely talented singer, and, when paired with Scott Bradlee and Postmodern Jukebox, every collaboration is a home run. This take on Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer” is stellar.
I’m also a fan of Christina Gatti, which did the amazing Beyonce cover of “Drunk in Love” earlier this year. Here, she takes on Britney Spears’ “Womanizer,” which is a really good song to transform into this style. Gatti’s vocals are superb, and the arrangement is inspired.
