It’s gone viral: A traffic reporter’s song parody of Idina Menzel’s “Let it Go” went all over the places as the masses were entertained. But as Charles Apple notes, it’s not Bob Herzog’s first trip to the parody rodeo. Continue reading

YouTube has everything: Kyla Grogan, past and present
@jjofriends @weatherchannel Love hearing from @TheOnion fans – thanks for tuning in!
— Kyla Grogan (@KylaGrogan) February 13, 2014
Tonight, while sitting in a hotel room in New York so I could avoid fighting my way into the city tomorrow due to the weather, I had The Weather Channel on and one of the anchors looked familiar: Kyla Grogan looked an awful lot like an Onion News Network anchor that was part of the brilliant team from their New York years. Turns out, it’s the same person! She’s been anchoring and delivering forecasts for the network for a couple of years now, following a multi-year run as regular Onion anchor Andrea Bennett. YouTube forces the ambitious to up their game at weddings
It started a few years ago when the wedding video of a couple doing the wedding march to Chris Brown’s “Forever” made the rounds, but a growing number of wedding videos put mother/son, father/daughter, and newly married couple first dances into a more public spectrum, showing off heavy creativity but forcing others to come up with something more original if they want to have a similar impact. Annie makes a quick return with protest song, short film
Up until now releases from Annie were separated most times by years, leaving people awaiting new material from the talented and critically acclaimed artist. But just a few months after the release of her “A&R” EP, and timed for the start up the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, Annie has released a song protesting Russia’s anti-gay stance, and paired it with a short film. Both were released today. Continue reading
YouTube has everything: A full hour of game show laughs
Clip shows were popular as reality series picked up steam, as they were cheap, effective counterprogramming. Of course, YouTube allows for similar concepts to excel equally well. Family Feud revived its fortunes, boosting its ratings to heights not seen in quite some time, despite the fact that it is a show that’s been on the air for the majority of the past 40 years, and online clips with funny or outrageous answers helped drive some of the initial interest. Kylie’s ‘Into the Blue’ video released
A quick update for you this morning; Kylie Minogue’s “Into the Blue” video has been released, as the march to “Kiss Me Once” approaches. See the video after the jump! Continue reading
Abandoned dogs: Pulling at heart strings for a cause
It was a year ago now that our family dog passed away after nearly 16 years with us, and given that’s still more than half my life, it’s hard not to feel a bit upset when I think about her even now. She brought a lot of joy into my life, and was always a good friend. Continue reading
YouTube has everything: Delta’s new in-flight training video
Anyone who flies on any sort of a regular basis has seen the safety presentation enough times to be able to likely recite the majority of it by memory. Airlines know this, and have attempted to liven them up, particularly now that most planes are equipped with video screens to show pre-recorded versions. Continue reading
Hank & Cupcakes debut self-filmed ‘Cocaina’ video
If it hasn’t been clear in the year plus I’ve been blogging, I’m an unabashed fan of Brooklyn duo Hank & Cupcakes. I’ve been keeping you posted on the progress of their second album, “Cash for Gold,” which has already seen the release of first single “Countdown.” But this week, they released their first music video connected to the album, for the song “Cocaina.” Continue reading
YouTube has everything: Busch Gardens shows
I waxed poetic about my love of Busch Gardens last year, but thanks to the power of YouTube, it’s never very far away. There are point-of-view films of people riding the roller coasters, pictures of the various sights and sounds, but one of the things that makes Busch Gardens special is its themed shows. Continue reading
